Ski & Skate Festival

Colorado Parks and Wildlife invites everyone to enjoy a little winter recreation at Yampa River State Park's Ninth Annual Ski and Skate Festival. The free event runs through the evening, under the light of the full moon. Gather at he park's visitors center for your chance to enjoy a full day of ice skating on the park's pond, followed by a trek on the cross country ski trail. The groomed trail will be illuminated with neon glow sticks for some visual, nighttime fun. This year the park will offer new activities, including learning and practicing avalanche rescue skills with the parks Beacon Basin, or learn how to build a snow cave, called a quinzee. After a day on the ice and snow, everyone is invited to sit around the warm fiire and enjoy the free hot chocolate a nd hot dogs provided by Yampa River State Park, Bring all necessary supplies and equipment adn dress for cold weather conditions.
