The Miners Clinic from National Jewish Health in Denver will visit our community and provide FREE and confidential screenings to current and former miners. They will also offer the Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program (RESEP) which helps people harmed by atmospheric nuclear testing and employment in the uranium mining industry fro, 1942 to 1972.
We have offered this FREE Miners Clinic in western mining areas for the last 11 years. During their 2013 screening in Craig, they screened approximately 45 miner over a two-day period of those screened, Of those screened, 33 percent showed signs of lung function abnormalities and at least 31 percent had chest X-ray abnormalities. Participants with abnormalities were alerted that they required further evaluation and management with their own physician. Many of the members of your community may benefit from this screening program.
