Freedom Hooves-Therapeutic Riding of Northwest Colorado is having a poker run. For those new to this sport, here are the rules. You don't need to know how to play poker, but you do need a horse. You ride at your own pace along an easy loop while enjoying the primitive vista of the Sand Wash Basin Herd Management Area and if lucky, enjoy watching horses in the wild. At each of 3 different locations along the route, stop and draw a sealed envelope for your poker hand. Upon completion of the loop draw your last envelope. Gather with your fellow riders for lunch (at a time to be determined), by the food vendor with your SEALED envelopes to open in front of the pit boss and record your hand on a score card. Once all hands are documented and tallied, winners will be announced. A local youth group will have basic lunches and water for sale as a separate fund-raiser.
