The National Take Back Initiative (NTBI) for prescription drugs will provide a great opportunity for those individuals with personal prescriptions who missed the previous events or who have subsequently accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of them. During the past 6 events, nationally, more than 4.1 million pounds (2,123 tons) of medications have been collected. In the State of Colorado alone, in excess of 127,400 pounds have been collected, an indication of this serious problem!
NOTE: This collection is limited to household waste and cannot include chemotherapy or radioactive substances, sharps or syringes, mercury (thermometers), oxygen containers, pressurized canisters, or illicit drugs.
