Event Description:
Celebrate fall at the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials located in historic ranching country near the Flat Tops Wilderness. Every year hundreds of spectators gather to cheer on the top dog and handler teams from around the world as they replicate maneuvers required to handle stock back at the ranch. There’s fun for all, music, food, crafts, art and 145 of the world's best sheep dogs competing against the toughest sheep in North America.  Artisan, food & Craft festival, sheep camp, educational displays, art contest and "Portraits of Pastoralism" on exhibit (Wilber Barn - on site) No shaded seating, so bring sunscreen, a hat and binoculars. There will be a free shuttle from downtown. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR PETS AT HOME.

Wed.,  Thurs. & Fri., 7 a.m. - close, Preliminary runs 50 dogs each day        

Thurs., 5-7 p.m. - Art reception (Wilber Barn on-site) & lamb cook-off

Fri., 1 - 6 p.m. & Sat.,  9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. - PEO "Quilts in the Country" exhibit at Fairfield Center, 3rd & Main St. 

Fri., Sat., & - Pancake breakfast (Rio Blanco Masons), educational demos & exhibits, spinning, Navajo weaving, felting, pottery & leatherwork demos, Border collie handling, dog agility and flyball. Western border collie rescue, great kilt, wool waulking & story telling, FFA petting zoo and sheep industry & more.

Fri. evening only, 7:30 p.m. - "Alway to Me" Free movie screening, RBC fairgrounds indoor arena, 700 Sulphur Creek Rd. Bring your lawn chairs.

Sat., 7 a.m. to close - Semi-final round, 30 dogs, Bagpiper & Celtic musicians
9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. - PEO "Quilts in Country" Fairfield Center, 3rd & Main
Noontime - Entertainment
4-9 p.m., - Free outdoor concert downtown courthouse lawn.
5-7 p.m. - Lions Club barbecue, courthouse lawn
7 p.m. - Jackpot trial at the fairgrounds

Sun. 8 a.m. - opening ceremony
8:30 a.m. to close - Championship round - 12 dogs Bagpiper & Celtic musicians.
Noon - Lamb barbeque (Rio Blanco Wool Growers) entertainment.
4 p.m. (approx.) - Awards ceremony after last run
