Name: Isabel Suppe - survival story
Date: August 6, 2013
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM MDT
Event Description:
Isabel Suppe and her climbing partner fell while climbing Ala Izquierda in Bolivia's Cordillera Real, a 17,561-foot peak, and tumbled over 1,100 feet. With a compound fracture and mass damage to her leg she crawled to find help for both her and her partner. She reached help in time for her, but it was too late for her partner. Since the fall she has been on crutches and will be until she can afford a surgical procedure to repair the damage to her ankle. Though still on crutches she has continued to climb and bike. She is on a journey across the United States promoting her book, Starry Night, that recounts her fall and its aftermath in attempt to raise money for surgery. Isabel will be giving a presentation about her adventures.
