Join CEC, The Wilderness Society, Center for Native Ecosystems and our coalition partners in northwest Colorado this spring to watch one of the West's most captivating sights - the Greater Sage Grouse mating ritual.
This is an opportunity to view male Greater Sage Grouse strutting their stuff to attract mates. The unique courtship entails male sage grouse inflating air sacs on their chests while dancing on their ancestral breeding ground (called a "lek"). In 2010, Greater Sage Grouse became a Candidate Species for the Endangered Species List. Many believe that they should be considered endangered, but funding and priorities preclude the Federal Government from listing this species.
With the species future in doubt we don't know how long it will be possible to view them dancing on the windswept sagebrush sea.
Don't miss out on this rare and amazing chance to see one of the West's most iconic birds!
