Event Description:

Barbecue chefs can compete for a chance at a $3,000 grand prize in the Colorado State BBQ Championships in Craig, Colorado. The annual event will take place at Loudy-Simpson Park.

Chefs compete in four meat classes: chicken, ribs, pork and brisket. Competitors and attendees alike enjoy the live music, various vendors and beautiful scenery that comes with a visit to Craig and the BBQ Championships.

The BBQ Championship and camping will be at Loudy-Simpson Park located at 500 S. Ranney St.

Thursday, Aug. 25
4 - 9 p.m. - Early check in & registration for teams
5 - 5:30 p.m. - Check in for Certified Barbeque Judging Class
6 - 10 p.m. Certified Barbeque Judging Class

Friday, Aug. 26
9 - 11:30 a.m. - Meat inspections
12 - 9 p.m. - Event open to the public
6 p.m. - Cooks meeting & team supper
8 p.m. - Entertainment

Saturday, Aug. 27
8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Event open to the public
9:30 a.m. - Judges check in
12 p.m. - Judging for chicken (turn in)
12:30 p.m. - Judging for ribs (turn in)
1 p.m. - Judging for pork (turn in)
1:30 p.m. - Judging for brisket (turn in)
3:30 p.m. - Awards ceremony
