Name: "Break the Cycle of Abuse & Neglect"
Date: June 10, 2013
Event Description:
Attend the training on "ATTACHMENT DISORDER." This is an essential subject for our time, workshop on Attachment Disorder. This workshop is a must for service providers working with children and youth, especially those serving juvenile delinquents, foster/adopted children. Current brain research emphasizes the critical importance of attachment for healthy personality development in children. The roots of violence are sown in the first few years of life. Children are being misdiagnosed and mismedicated in schools, foster care, and mental health systems. It is estimated that as many as 85 percent of children in the foster care system awaiting permanency planning suffer from serious emotional/behavioral disorders. The life long impact on these children and on society as a whole are staggering, both in terms of loss of childhood, loss of productivity and the costs associated with providing treatment to those affected. The workshop will be presented by Forrest Lien, LCSW, an internationally recognized speaker, trainer, and consultant on subjects relating to emotionally disrupted children and the  people who work and live with them. Participants will receive certificates of attendance for 2 hours.
