BLM Community Workshops

Name: BLM Community Workshops
Date: August 10, 2011 - August 11, 2011
Event Description:
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking the public's help as it conducts an inventory of the visual resources on its lands in Moffat, Rio Blanco, Routt and Garfield counties in the Little Snake and White River Field Offices, including identifying important scenic views and places. One of the things BLM considers when it makes land use decisions, such as where to locate energy corridors, oil and gas development, or vegetation treatments, is the visual impact of these decisions on the landscape. We need an accurate inventory of the visual resources to make these decisions. We want to hear from the people who live, work and depend on this land for livelihood, quality of life and well-being about their sensitivity or level of concern for the visual resources in these areas. What scenic views are important to you? What level of visual impact is appropriate in specific areas? Attend one of the following workshops to share your thoughts. You may stop by anytime during any of the workshops; there will be brief presentations at the beginning of the first and second hours. The same introductory information will be provided at each workshop. At Craig & Steamboat, BLM will host an open house to display preliminary results of the multiple workshops held in these communities.
