Name: Belle Zars Book Signing
Date: January 21, 2022
Time: 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM MST
Event Description:
The Museum of Northwest Colorado will be hosting a book signing by author of "Only Connect" Belle Zars on 1/21/22. The event will start at 1:30pm with a presentation from the author which will be followed by a signing. Belle Zars grew up in Hayden, CO and is the granddaughter of Ferry Carpenter of Hayden Colorado. Her new book "Only Connect" is the story of Yamparika Ute Indians, and later, homesteaders and teachers, at the Rock School House north of Hayden on the upper Elkhead River of Routt County. This book chronicles forced removal, dislocation of the Ute tribe, as well as courage, achievement and resilience of the homesteaders. Belle Zars weaves together first-person accounts, interviews, letters and diaries with grounded knowledge of place to bring to light previously untold and buried history. This book does an amazing job of describing what it takes to make up a community, and how it survives as a whole through the endurance of the individuals.
