The head of Colorado’s Tourism Office and the head of the new Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office will be the keynote speakers at the 10th annual State of the Community.
Cathy Ritter, CTO director, and Luis Benitez, outdoor recreation industry director, will give us an inside look into Colorado’s tourism and recreation industry, where it’s headed and what opportunities Moffat County has to break into this growing market.

Cathy Ritter, former director of the Illinois Bureau of Tourism, joined the Colorado Tourism Office in November of 2015. She plans to duplicate Illinois successful 5-year tourism strategic plan process that includes residents in the process. Ritter has converted her experience as an award-winning newspaper journalist into a career as a state agency spokesperson, Illinois' top tourism official and marketing communication executive. |
Luis Benitez, the state’s very first director of outdoor recreation, has summited Mt. Everest six times, the first leading a blind mountaineer to the peak. He is a member of the Eagle Town Council, a leadership development consultant, motivational speaker and now the state’s leading advocate for the outdoor recreation industry. Benitez has served as the Rocky Mountain regional director of Outward Bond Professional. |
State of the Community will also highlight updates from Moffat County’s industry leaders and Chamber Cornerstone Partners: The Memorial Hospital, Trapper Mine, Tri-State Generation & Transmission and Colowyo Coal Company.
And of course, participants will hear economic and government updates from the city of Craig and the Craig Chamber of Commerce and celebrate the winners of the Large Business of the year, small business of the year and Business person of the year awards.
